ARTIST-EDUCATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION: ARTIST-EDUCATOR
Guild Hall seeks an Artist-Educator to join Guild Hall’s Learning + New Works department.
The Artist-Educator reports directly to the Programs Manager, Learning + Works and collaborates with them to co-design and facilitate Guild Hall’s Learning programs. This includes the Guild Hall Teen Arts Council, Exhibition Tours + Workshops, Family Performance Series, and Community Outreach projects.
Ideal candidates will have an interdisciplinary creative practice, K-12 Education Training, and a history in socially engaged and/or participatory arts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Designing and Implementing curriculum guides & lesson plans in response to Guild Hall’s Exhibitions and Performance programs.
- Lead/Facilitate up to 5 Guild Hall School Tours + Workshops per quarter.
- Design & Lead/Facilitate up to 3 activities during Guild Hall Community gatherings/openings and community initiatives per quarter.
- Design & Lead/Facilitate pre-show Family Workshops during Guild Hall’s Summer season.
- Assist on creative projects with the Guild Hall Teen Arts Council.
- Assist scheduling on In-School Artist-in-Residency programs, including Guild Hall’s Student Art Festival.
QUALIFICATIONS & QUALITIES
- Two to Five years of experience in community arts education and/or public-school Arts education.
- Experience working with residents and community organizations; familiarity with East End of Long Island preferred; bilingual speakers (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Ability to work as part of a team; highly collaborative and open-minded.
- A creative thinker and imaginative problem solver; agile, resilient, and responsive to shifts in both opportunities and challenges.
- Willingness to work select weekends and weeknights to accommodate the needs of the job.
COMPENSATION
The position is a part-time role at no more than 15 hours per week. Salary is at $25.00 per hour.

Guild Hall presents more than 200 programs and hosts 60,000 visitors each year. The Museum mounts eight to ten exhibitions, ranging from the historical to the contemporary, and focuses on artists who have an affiliation with the Hamptons. The Theater produces more than 100 programs―including plays, concerts, dance, screenings, simulcasts, and literary readings―from the classics to new works. In addition to these endeavors, Guild Hall supports the next generation of artists with in-school and on-site Learning + New Works programs.
