Sam Pollard is an accomplished feature film and television video editor, and documentary producer/director whose work spans almost 30 years. His first assignment as a documentary producer came in 1989 for Henry Hamptonโs Blackside production ๐๐บ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ณ๐ช๐ป๐ฆ ๐๐: ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ข ๐ข๐ต ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ค๐ช๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ด๐ด๐ณ๐ฐ๐ข๐ฅ๐ด. For one of his episodes in this series, he received an Emmy. Eight years later, he returned to Blackside as co-executive producer/producer of Hamptonโs last documentary series, ๐โ๐ญ๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ญ๐ฅ: ๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ๐ช๐ฆ๐ด ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ฏ-๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ฏ ๐๐ณ๐ต๐ช๐ด๐ต๐ด ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ช๐ต๐บ. For the series, Pollard received a Peabody Award. Five years later, he co-produced and supervised the edit on the follow up to Levees, ๐๐ง ๐๐ฐ๐ฅ ๐๐ด ๐๐ช๐ญ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ข ๐๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐๐ฐ๐ฏโ๐ต ๐๐ช๐ด๐ฆ. Since 2012, Pollard has produced and directed ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐บ ๐๐บ ๐๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ (2012), a 90- minute documentary for PBS that was in competition at the Sundance Film Festival; ๐๐ถ๐จ๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐๐ช๐ญ๐ด๐ฐ๐ฏ: ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ฏ ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ค๐ฉ ๐ ๐๐ต๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ (2015), a 90-minute documentary for American Masters; ๐๐ธ๐ฐ ๐๐ณ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ๐ด ๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ช๐ฏโ (2016), a feature-length documentary that premiered at the Full Frame Film Festival; and ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ: ๐๐ข๐ค๐ฆ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ค๐ข (2017) for PBS.
