The Lost Leonardo tells the inside story behind the Salvator Mundi, the most expensive painting ever sold at $450 million, claimed to be a long-lost masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci. From the moment it is purchased from a shady New Orleans auction house, and its buyers discover masterful brushstrokes beneath its cheap restoration, the fate of the Salvator Mundi is driven by an insatiable quest for fame, money and power. But as its price soars, so do questions about its authenticity. Is this multi-million dollar painting actually by Leonardo – or do certain power players simply want it to be? Unravelling the hidden agendas of the world’s richest men and most powerful art institutions, The Lost Leonardoreveals how vested interests became all-important, and the truth secondary. Following the screening, HamptonsFilm Co-Chairman Alec Baldwin and HamptonsFilm Artistic Director David Nugent will lead a conversation with the filmmakers and guests.

HamptonsFilm presents SummerDocs Hosted by Alec Baldwin: Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)

In his acclaimed debut as a filmmaker, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presents a powerful and transporting documentary—part music film, part historical record created around an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion. Over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, The Harlem Cultural Festival was filmed in Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park). The footage was never seen and largely forgotten–until now. Summer of Soul shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present. The feature includes never-before-seen concert performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, The 5th Dimension and more. Following the screening, HamptonsFilm Co-Chairman Alec Baldwin and HamptonsFilm Artistic Director David Nugent will lead a pre-recorded, streamed conversation with the filmmakers and guests.

Guests attending any indoor John Drew Theater program must show proof of full vaccination. At this time, only fully vaccinated guests are permitted to attend programs in the indoor theater. Children under 12 do not require vaccination.

In order to attend programs indoors in the John Drew Theater, guests will be responsible for displaying proof of one of the following on arrival*:

  • Completed vaccination card or digital application proving both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been received at least 14 days prior to the day of the program.

*In accordance with current New York State guidelines, fully vaccinated attendees may be spaced directly next to one another at 100 percent capacity instead of 6 feet apart. Masks are optional. Venues must verify vaccination status to take advantage of reduced social distancing requirements. Children under the age of 12 who are not yet vaccine eligible, and under the age of 16 who have not yet been able to be vaccinated, may accompany and be seated with a vaccinated adult.

Colin Quinn is a stand-up comedian from Brooklyn (okay, Park Slope). From MTV’s “Remote Control” to “SNL” to Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn,” Mr. Quinn is not one to take a hint and bow out gracefully. He’s been on Broadway with “Colin Quinn: An Irish Wake” and “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short” (also an HBO special) and off-Broadway with his show “Colin Quinn: Unconstitutional” (available on Netflix) and “Colin Quinn: The New York Story,” directed by Jerry Seinfeld (also available on Netflix).

Recent credits include “Trainwreck,” “Girls,” and his web series “Cop Show.”  His first book, “The Coloring Book,” is now out from Grand Central Publishing and his second book, “Overstated: A Coast-to-Coast Roast of the 50 States,” from St. Martin’s Press was released in September 2020.  In January 2019, Colin Quinn’s newest one-man show, “Red State Blue State,” premiered to rave reviews at The Minetta Lane Theatre in New York.  The special was adapted into CNN’s first comedy special in May 2019 and started streaming on Netflix in August 2019. Colin’s HBO Max special “Colin Quinn & Friends: A Parking Lot Comedy Show” was shot in the summer of 2020 at a repurposed drive-in theater in Brooklyn. Part stand-up showcase and part documentary, the hour premiered on November 12th, 2020.

On the occasion of the 90 Years: Selections from the Permanent Collection, we are delighted to re-release this virtual program from Spring 2021.

Tony Nominated actor Paul Hecht, in conjunction with Guild Hall’s Chief Curator Christina Mossaides Strassfield and Amanda Kate Joshi, curated a celebration of spring and the arts as poems of rejuvenation, rebirth and creativity are read in the spirit of hopefulness for a new season by a celebrated cast of artists.  These voiceovers from some of America’s greatest actors will be read and superimposed over a survey of images of some of America’s greatest art from Guild Hall’s Permanent Collection. A true marriage of the visual and performing arts, the evening will feature many luminaries from Guild Hall’s storied Academy of the Arts, complete with the music of guitar virtuoso Ralph Gibson. Featuring F. Murray Abraham, Karen Akers, Wyatt Cenac, Michael Cerveris, Cornelius Eady, Barbara Feldon, Lynnette R. Freeman, Joanna Gleason, Bill Irwin, Cherry Jones, Susan Lucci, Austin Pendleton, Tony Roberts, Mercedes Ruehl, Salman Rushdie, Chris Sarandon, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Harris Yulin.

Evan Sherman is coming back to the East End for The Center! The young jazz lion was the Jazz for Jennings band leader for 3 years, followed with evening shows at the Talkhouse. Join us on August 12 for a concert under the stars featuring Evan Sherman, Cyrus Chestnut, and Dezron Douglas, to benefit Guild Hall and the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center.

Following current New York State guidelines, Guild Hall will no longer require six feet of social distancing in the John Drew Backyard Theater (with the exception of our KidFEST shows). Guests ages 5 and up attending any show besides a KidFEST performance must show proof of full vaccination or recent negative COVID-19 test results. Face coverings are now optional for fully vaccinated guests and children under the age of 2 for all shows with the exception of KidFEST performances, when masks are required for all patrons over the age of 2 regardless of vaccination status. 

In order to attend non-KidFEST programs in the John Drew Backyard Theater, guests will be responsible for displaying proof of one of the following on arrival:

  • Full vaccination, meaning both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine received at least 14 days prior to the day of the program
  • A negative test result from a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the day of the program
  • A negative test result from a COVID-19 Antigen test taken within six (6) hours of the program’s scheduled start time

Note: Social distancing will continue to be required indoors, for outdoor KidFEST performances, and on the rest of the grounds. Guests will not need to show proof of vaccination or negative test results in these spaces, and will be required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status. Please stay home if you don’t feel well, have exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 10 days, have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 10 days, or been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past 10 days.
